Based on article 20 in the Convention on the Rights of the Child, I have explored how foster parents maintain the cultural background of minority foster children. According to the article, a child, who is temporarily or permanently deprived of his or her family environment shall be entitled to care provided by the State. Such care includes placements in foster homes, residential care or adoption. When considering the site of care, “due regard shall be paid to the desirability of continuity in a child's upbringing and to the child's ethnic, religious, cultural and linguistic background”.
